Buzzard Droppings March 2008

(Continued from page 3)

the fall date a bit later, possibly after some heavy leaf fall or wind storm like last year. It will be discussed with Ron Rueter and presented at the next meeting.

Old Business

The idea about a container was continued from last meeting. The general consensus is that for a few hundred dollars we can beef up what we have and not buy a container. Save that money for a new field, when the opportunity happens.

New Business

Park Flyer issue. The Club felt that the Park Flyer issue is not for our Club. We want to keep the regular membership and regular Club dues for everyone.

A motion was made, seconded and passed that the Club buy a dB meter and perform regular sound readings.

Program - Show and Tell

Charlie Higgins brought pictures of his ‘Tumble Wing’ that he built last year, which was subsequently flown by Scott Curtis. The plane won

the second place prize at the NW Model Expo last year. He plans to fly it again this year after he accumulates some ‘stick time’. It’s quite a spectacle in the sky ! ! Nice Job Charlie!

Brian Illston brought a Sea Master ARF given to him by a friend. It draws about 43 amps, 600 watt coming in at 80 to 90 watts per sq. ft. wing area. He’s itchin’ to try out the pond ! !

Dick Ovrid brought a Flying W that he and Jedd designed, but this time around, he put a .15 glow on it. It flies well, but the throttle response is a bit slower than the electric and harder to hover. Dick says “it’s still a kick in the pants, though”! The electric model weighs about 23 oz, the glow around 28 oz. Sumo glue from Locktite is used and works fantastic. The receiver was dipped in Corrosion X to keep it water tight. All great stuff!

You can see the Flying W video at www.youtube.com . Then type in the search area, Flying W.

Gary Owen brought a TaylorCraft on floats that he’s had for around 22 years. Dick has the matching twin, which they still fly regularly and have great fun with on landing one float, dragging the tail, etc. It’s covered with Sig Coverall and dope. It’s never changed or aged.

Jay Wellan brought his Hydro Hawk and talked about having to set up an expo on the radio around 55 to 60% for easier control. He is anxious to get it in the sky!

Nice job guys and Thanks!
