Buzzard Droppings June 2008

donated for the auction.

Fred asked for ideas and volunteers for determining the beneficiaries from the Annual Auction proceeds.

Fred went over the names of everyone that helped at the April field cleanup. A Big THANK YOU to all who participated.

Our landlord, Dale Reiner, had asked us to call the Snohomish County DOT and report the pot holes on the road to the field. It worked to some end, and the pot holes have been filled with gravel. Hopefully a paving will be in the future.

Fred asked for a motion to accept the minutes as written in the April newsletter. Motion made, seconded and passed.

Fred talked about the meeting with Dale and the Board. It was somewhat disappointing in the sense that it sounds like things had changed with Dale’s intent for a park and summer cottages. Bottom line is we’re here until Dale either gets tired of owning/farming the land or some BIG $$$ come his way for the purchase. Dale’s still thinking about the AG 10 idea. We should keep the alternate field committee active.

Fred introduced the current club officers:

President – Fred Hanquet

Vice President – Brian Illston

Secretary – Chet Blake

Treasurer – Rick Hanners

Field Safety Officer – Vince Bell

Newsletter Editor and Webmaster – Ron Swift

Field Manager – Ron Rueter

Vice President – Brian Illston reported that he needs help with at least one of the Open Houses. Please see Brian if you can help.

Brian has gotten signs made to attach to the fence about properly and loudly calling out your

intentions, such as Taking off, Dead stick, Hand launch, Landings & properly displaying frequency in the frequency board, etc. as a reminder to pilots.

Vests for the CD’s and Safety Coordinator were made, Vince modeled the Safety Coordinator vest. He will be VERY noticeable!

Ron Swift and Randy Turner will be the CD’s for the 1st Fun Fly. Sandy and Dottie will have the grill fired up! There’s always room for someone who doesn’t want to participate in the event to help, so c’mon out and kibitz, hassle, hang out and help.

Secretary - Chet Blake reported we have 63 members This includes 1 family and 1 Jr. member.

The Builder’s Contest conclusion is tonight.

Next meeting will be Tuesday, June 3rd at the Club Field.

Treasurer – Rick Hanners reported that the balance is $7,440.99

. The income from the builders contest is $110 (11 entries) that will be split up amongst the winners..

Safety Officer – Vince asked that everyone remember that when there is no strong prevailing wind, use a “Right to Left” take off and fly that ‘pattern’ making right hand turns. Also, call it out as such…. (i.e. “Taking off right to left”).

Call out Landings in the same way. Watch taking off and veering over the pits.

All in all, things are going pretty smoothly.

and is in good condition. If you have any R/C equipment, kits, etc. consider donating your stuff to our charity auction. The proceeds from our auction will go to a worthy cause and will benefit others who need a helping hand. We now have 6 charities under consideration and we will decide who the money should go to at the August club meeting. So guys, clean out your hanger, bring stuff you don’t need to our auction; And then

bring lots of money to buy it back again. If you don’t need any more R/C equipment you can make a cash donation, so others will be helped.

Two years ago we raised over $1,300.00 for Children’s Hospital and last year we rose over $1,700.00 that went to Children’s Hospital. Guys I would like to see us raise over $2,000.00 for this years Charity Auction.

I think this is all I have, see you at the meeting. Sincerely, Fred Hanquet
