Buzzard Droppings October 2007

(President’s Message continued from page 2)

as a full pilot?" That point has traditionally been  the safe and successful completion of the solo flight and/or the checkout flight.

So this brings us to the point of what is the purpose of an advanced training program? Do we need it or should it be included at the end of the existing member's training. I believe the original idea was to have an optional class as a service to members that would include things like Glider Towing, Glider Piloting, Trimming, 3D, and advanced maneuvers, etc.  I know we have the best instructors that a club could have, and with Ray gone we now have only 3. If you add the total years of experience these instructors have, it would add up to between 70 to 90 years. We are all learning and moving forward. So think about what has been said and lets talk about it at our next meeting.

Also, there is article on page 7 of your AMA Magazine about Club Workload Options. It is a toughly worded article and I don't agree with their conclusions, but take a moment and read

it, if you can find the time.  When you are at our field, take a good look at what we have. We are lucky to have some very hard working members that keep our field in a park like condition. We can all be proud of the work we have done! Just follow through if you volunteer for a task like mowing, etc.

One more thing guys Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:00 PM will be our next club meeting. We will kick off our Builder's Competition Event,  as well as start our club election process for next year by nominating club officers.

The last item is the discussion and voting on the change to the bylaws that would provide full membership to the Newsletter position, just like the elected positions enjoy today.  I wanted to do this because of the commitment and time involved in delivering the Newsletter to you.

Thank you for your time, see you at the field.

Sincerely, Fred

doing any flying. He has gained even more expertise in wild bore hunting and long bow archery skills. His expert training is all due to the immense TV time he’s had and the boredom of recuperation.

Fred reported that we recently lost a fellow Buzzard,  Mr. Craig Crummer. Craig passed away August 7th and his family will hold a Celebration of Craig’s Life on Saturday, September 29th, from 1:00 to 3:00 at the First Congregational Church in Bellevue.

Fred announced that the “Breakfast by Fred” here at the field Aug 11th had a good turnout and was a good time.

We’re now back at the Hitching Post for Saturday morning breakfasts. Searle has taken the restaurant back and it’s like old times again!

Fred asked that visitors or guests introduce themselves. Mr. Al Faith and Alan Sautter were in attendance. Alan is off to Arkansas next week for a vigorous R/C training school. Maybe when he returns, he’ll join up!
