Buzzard Droppings May 2007

(Continued from page 2)

Sandy has digitized the Club Emblem and is able to reduce it to a nice hat or shirt pocket size.

Treasurer – Rick Hanners reported that the balance is $6209.50 plus the dues coming in tonight. Rick explained that we had voted to set aside $2000 for the alternate field out of the balance reported. We should be in good shape.

Safety Officer – Vince Bell reported the weather is getting nice and the “fly bug” is making a lot of members “itch” to go flying. Please take some time and check everything out. Cycle batteries, don’t count on volt meter readings, check out hinges, clevises and gear. Be wise, be safe, above all, be courteous!

Special Committee Reports

Alternate Field Location Committee Fred has his eye on a couple of fields and awaiting the opportunity to talk to the owners. We have nothing to loose by asking!  Fred is also getting Dave Remlinger’s phone number from Dale.

Pilot training – Rick reported that 3 members are in training.

Sound Management – No new readings or report.

Field Improvements  -  Ron Rueter talked about the events for the Field Clean up day. Bring out your favorite (or NOT favorite tools) and help out. As stated, lunch will be provided.  As Fred already mentioned, we will build 2 tables, patch a pot hole in the road, clean and organize the shed, weed whack, rake…… all the fun of field maintenance.

Ron has been working on the mower to repair some lingering problems since it was submerged in the flood. The starter was acting up, you have to hold the key for an extra second or 2 to get it to kick over. Ron will have it running smooth soon.

Ron suggested that the shed doors be opened when someone is there in order to gain access to the fire extinguisher, first aid or emergency telephone if needed. If there’s a true emergency, fumbling with the lock can take

precious time.

Ron and Fred thanked Brian Illston for the wheels on the tables.

Brian Illston (the mole guy) has some work to do. Our “tenants” are back.

Program

Two (2) vintage 8mm films were donated to the club. The first shown covered  the 1964 XB-70 of which very few were made and survived.  The second one covered the launch of Apollo 4.

Scott Curtis went over some guidelines and rules that will be used in the Combat Events.  Unless there’s a large number of entries, we’ll probably fly one-on-one for safety sake and use the bracket elimination. The question of a
