Buzzard Droppings February 2007

(Continued from page 2)

reported.  With 2007 dues coming in, we should be in good shape.

Safety Officer – Vince Bell reported 2006 was a good year - safety wise, no problems and keep up the GOOD WORK in 2007.

Special Committee Reports

Alternate Field Location Committee – Fred talked to Mr. Mike Green who owns 40 acres in Duvall and it might be promising.  Fred said that Mike was interested in knowing about the club and the possibility of renting a few acres for the alternate field.

The location of Harley’s field might be a concern due to a neighbor that might complain and that could cause King County to shut it down. There will need to be a “Special Use Permit” at whatever location we choose.

The committee is going to check into the feasibility of buying a few acres if available with flying rights over the surrounding area.

Chet asked if we are going to check with Dale about farming friends that he has and has mentioned.  It only seems fair to follow up with him since he had repeatedly made the offer to help relocate us when necessary.

As reported before, Dale Reiner, our current Landlord, said to start looking for another field and plan to stay at our current one as long as possible.  Dale has no idea of when or if a sale might occur, but he’s buying the property in front of the field to make the sale of the lot more attractive.

Pilot training Rick reported that 3 members are in training.

Sound Management – No new readings to report.

Field Improvements  - Ron Rueter was appointed as the new Field Manager.

Fred presented Vince Bell with the Dave Weber Special Service Award for 2006.  Congratulations, Vince !

Announcements

Fred said that the menu will change this year at the Fun Fly events and Combat events.  It will be ribs, chips, soda or water and potato salad.  Open House will be hamburgers, chips and soda or water.

Ron Rueter asked about the AMA TAG program and if it could benefit our Club.  Ron will check into it and report to the club.

Program

Brian Illston put together a nice program on electric flight with a handout. Brian said that it’s best for him to stay with one brand of motor since there’s no real standards between brands of what the power is, amp draw or size (like an S.A.E. standard in bolts or measurement where everything is related to by common numbers). Brian enjoys the electric flight, the challenges that it offers and the satisfaction of sizing everything just right to get a nice flying plane or glider. As with most of this hobby, a lot of “try and see” is used to come up with what works best for you.

NICE JOB BRIAN !

Show and Tell

Ron Rueter brought a Special Award made by his niece.  It seems she’s all to aware of his flying antics J

Dave Bell brought a Heathkit transmitter, receiver and servos that he built many moons ago when you had to build it to be able to afford it. The kit was from the 60/70’s era.  Even after all the years sitting, he turned it on and the batteries still had a charge.  Nice presentation Dave !

Gerald Gunnells brought a J-3 Cub in process and which looked great! Thanks Gerald !

More Announcements

Fred and some of us guys get together every Saturday. when possible, for breakfast at 8:00, then go to the field weather permitting.  Currently we’re harassing the waitresses, solving world problems and hanging out at Patty’s Eggnest in the Albertson’s Plaza, on the east end of Monroe. We’ll keep an eye on Ken !

Meeting adjourned 8:40 P.M.

Respectfully Submitted, Chet Blake,  BBMAC Secretary
