Buzzard Droppings February 2007

(President’s Message continued from page 1)

SO, Ken drove straight to the hospital.  They acknowledged that Ken was having a heart attack. Some roto-rooter work and three stints later, Ken was on the road to recovery.

He returned to Patty’s a month later and reported he was feeling a whole lot better.  He warned all of us to take care of ourselves and eat right so we can avoid his experience.  Ken ordered his breakfast—four  large slices of French Toast lavished with butter, whip cream, loads of syrup and an ample amount

Treasurer — Rick Hanners

Field Safety Officer — Vince Bell

Newsletter Editor and Webmaster — Ron Swift

A motion was requested by Fred,  made and seconded to accept the minutes as published in the monthly newsletter.   Motion passed unanimously.

Fred wished everyone a Very Happy New Year !

Fred welcomed visitors and asked them to identify themselves.  Mr. Dan Davids and his son, Sam, were there to see just what the R/C hobby is all about.

Fred and Chet relayed that our Saturday morning flying buddy, Ken Mowery had a heart attack after the last Saturday breakfast (better watch those eggs!) and drove himself home then to the hospital.  Ken had some plumbing work done, and returning for more the night of the meeting. (I can report that Ken is doing well and recently flew with us this past Saturday) C O O L !

The program for the evening is Electric Flight by Brian Illston. (Brian had asked that all rotten vegetables and tomatoes be checked at the door) .  There’s a rumor that he’s even going to build a ‘glow’ model ! ! !

Vice President – Joe Wallis reported that we will have 2 Fun Fly events and 2 Combat events in 2007.  There will be an Open House and Swap Meet at every event.  The membership and directors of each event will help decide the dates.

Secretary - Chet Blake as of this meeting we had 21 members with both 2007 AMA cards and membership paid up.  It increased as the evening went on.

2007 membership MUST be paid by the end of the March meeting, otherwise the dues for rejoining will be $100.  The current membership dues remain the same, $60 for adult, $30 for junior and $15 for student membership.

AMA dues are now due. Please keep this in mind, you CANNOT fly at our field NOR renew your membership without having a current 2007 AMA card.

We received another new member tonight, Mr. Ray Ackenhausen (from R/C Hobbies in Woodinville).

Ray said that he wanted to join the Barnyard Buzzards because he was treated so well at the Fun Fly this past summer and enjoyed everyone there.  WELCOME RAY and GREAT JOB GUYS !!

Chet reported that there was no word from Mr. Jim Clayton about the club trainer, so it’s considered lost.  Chet personally feels that it’s not worth the cost for the club to maintain a trainer and loose it.  If a person wishes to learn, he’ll have to invest in a modest model and radio equipment to fly anyway.  This can be left to the membership if it arises.

Treasurer – Rick Hanners reported that the balance is $3979.90 plus the dues coming in.  Rick passed out the budget for this year and explained that we had voted to set aside $2000 for the alternate field out of the balance

of fresh berries.  At least he follows his own advice.  Good to have Ken back!

I have heard through the grape vine that some of our current members are a little discouraged about the flying field situation and might not renew their membership for 2007.  We might not have clearly stated the strategy we are following…  The current plan is to continue to fly at our existing field for as long as possible.  The only thing that is constant is change, but Dale doesn’t have a buyer yet, and mentioned we
