Buzzard Droppings April 2007

(Continued from page 2)

everything is going well. Keep your head in the game, be courteous and watch what’s going on around you. Let’s make those calls for “Landing”, “On the Field” and “Low Pass”, etc. audible. Make sure you acknowledge the call! It’s sometimes tough to hear when there’s a plane being started or running up on a bench behind you. Fred chimed in and said “Be Loud and Communicate”! Pass the word down the flight line!

Alternate Field Location Committee Fred talked to one owner that Fred, Vince, Chet and Brian talked to, got soaked and stuck in the mud setting up surveyor flags where the runway might be. The current owner really didn’t want anything to do with it since she’s had past troubles with land renters and she also was concerned about the possible noise complaints form the neighboring Condos in Duvall. He son was disappointed, but understands that it’s not his call.

Bill Allan and Fred will be exploring more on the weekends. As Fred says, you never know until you ask!  Harley’s field isn’t out yet, but there are concerns about his neighbor who has a case in court now for other issues.  Fred was approached by a gentleman that has some land that would love to see us fly in.  Fred has to check it out, as the land might be too small. The search for a second field continues ………… Fred has more acquaintances and real estate folks to check out !

As a reminder, a membership vote allowed the committee to talk to potential landlords and allocated $2000 for the development of our second field.

As reported before………Our current landlord suggested to start another field and continue to fly on the current one as long as possible. He has no idea of when or if a sale might occur, but he’s buying the property in front of the field to make the sale more attractive.

Pilot training – Reported by Fred for Rick, 3 members are still in pilot training.

Sound Management –No new readings to report.

Field Improvements  - Ron Rueter has set the date of April 21st for our spring field clean up, 9:00 to 11:00 (or so) with a barbecue for the workers. He’ll see Joe Wallis about appropriate field dressings for the lawn care. Bring what lawn ‘n garden tools you have and pitch in, “git ‘r dun” and FLY !!

Ron reported that the new tractor is running fine.  When you use the mower, ALWAYS check the oil BEFORE starting it up and when you’re done. If you think it is showing signs of water (creamy or light colored) notify Ron or an Officer.

Old Business

Brian Illston put wheels on the tables for easier moving and mowing in the pit area. Thanks Brian!

We asked for volunteers for the Expo at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, Mar. 24th and 25th.

A sign up sheet went around and approximately. 11 members signed up.

New Business

The Barnyard Buzzards are at the Expo !

We have a Club Booth at Area 6 in Building 500 at the Expo! The sign up sheet was again passed around and we ended up with 16 volunteers total. Thanks Guys!  Fred will contact all the volunteers by phone and set up the schedule.

This is the perfect opportunity to show the community what and who we are. If you have BBMAC Coats, hats, shirts, T shirts Etc. wear your colors at the show. We have a GREAT Club and let the visitors know it.

We’ll have some static displays, a G3.5 flight simulator, Club info and a computer running a slide show of field, flying, the flood and member pics.

It was motioned, seconded and approved by vote that a BBMAC banner be made for the Expo and future events for approximately $80. Rumor has it that Ron Swift personally knows a person that can do it    ;-)

Ron Swift has secured 3 tables for static display and for swap meet goodies. He’ll have Buzzards info at these tables, also. Members can contact him to put their stuff out.

Ron Swift also announced that we’ve made
