(President’s Message continued from page 1)

the event. This was the first combat event I ever participated in. I never thought a combat event would be so much fun and challenging. If you have not participated in any of our combat events in the past, please think about entering one next summer. You will not be sorry, and you might walk away with a prize. Ron Beba, Ron Rutter and I put on the barbeque.

person.

The program for the evening was a flying demo by Scott Curtis flying his Combat bird with streamer attached, exhibiting maneuvers and just how small that 20 ft. streamer looks in the air. Nice job, Scott!

Dick Ovrid also brought a scratch built, large scale Space Walker for show and tell.

The next meeting will be at the flying field , Tuesday Sept. 5, 2006 at 7:00 rain or shine.

Fred requested that a motion be made to approve the meeting minutes as published in the newsletter. A motion was made and seconded.  Minutes were unanimously approved by the club members present.

Fred asked for visitors and/or guests to identify themselves. No visitors were present.

Fred asked for ideas and suggestions related to the club. Call him or email him with any ideas at 2005fhanquet@earthlink.net

Vice President - Brian Richardson announced that every meeting will be a swap meet and the first Saturday of every month throughout the summer will be an OPEN HOUSE at the field. He also reminded everyone of the following dates,

Sept 2 – Open House

Glider Day to be announced

Every Event is also a swap meet.

Dave Kelly of RC Hobbies in Woodinville asked that his business banner be hung at open houses and events. In turn he will offer gifts or certificates for prizes at various events. Thanks Dave !

Secretary - Chet Blake reported that there are 61 members including; 1 Honorary, 3 family and 2 junior.

The Fun Fly, with Ron Swift as CD, went off without a hitch! Thanks, Ron, for another GREAT job!  And many thanks to Sandy and Tara for their awesome Grillin’!

It’s been hot and dry so the field only shows signs of some broad leaf plants and some straggler weeds, but they need to be trimmed and the parking lot still needs to be mowed weekly. The field has been looking GREAT, so I personally want to thank all who signed up on the mowing list for doing their part.

As always, please have the field mowed by Friday evening.

We should be thinking about where we’ll be having our Autumn, Winter and Spring meetings since Sept. is usually the last meeting at the field. The Library needs advance notice to schedule our nights in, so we need comments and ideas.

Treasurer – Rick Hanners reported a balance of $4636.63, although the rent hasn’t been paid as of the August meeting.

Safety Officer – Vince Bell reported that the Fun Fly went very well, was entertaining and fun!

Kudo’s to Ron for a well planned event and as always, keeping it safety minded.

Special Committee Reports

Alternate Field Location Committee – Gerald Gunners reported that he is still trying to get info on another possible sight.

Pilot Training - Rick Hanners reported that 1 member’s training is in progress, and there was 1 checked off.

Sound Management – No new readings to report.

September 2nd will be our last Open House which Brian Richardson will host.  I will host the barbeque. Also, I know it is the day after Labor Day, but we will have the last club meeting and barbeque at our field on Sept. 5th. Our new club meeting location will be announced then on Sept. 5th. See you at the field.

Fred
