Buzzard Droppings October 2006

(Continued from page 2)

committee was formed consisting of  Ron Swift, Ron Rueter, Kim Volz and Fred Hanquet. They will arrange meetings to get more data to share with the club.  Details will be shared at future club meetings.

We are going to keep the present field as long as possible. The Club has done a great job in upgrading and maintaining this field and everyone should be proud of the achievements made. Dale has always had good comments about The Buzzards because of this.

Pilot training – Ron Swift reported that 2 members are in training and there was 1 check off.

Sound Management –No new readings or report.

Field Improvement Committee  - Joe stated that when we get some wet weather, grass seed can be laid down on the field. It takes about 6 weeks to germinate, so the sooner we get some rain, the better for the field.

New Business

Ron Rueter donated a machete to the club in case anyone else needs to “battle” their way thru the thickets to retrieve a lost plane. THANKS RON !

Downed planes…… IF you loose or down a plane, please make every effort to locate it and all the pieces possible, ESPECIALLY if it’s in the area where Dale mows and bales the hay. It’s extremely important to NOT have plane debris in any of the bales that Dale will be feeding livestock.

If you can’t find it, please notify Fred or any of the Officers with a description and location of where it was last seen.

Along with Safety, keeping Dale happy with us is our top priority. We could possibly be here for longer than originally thought, so lets keep doing what Dale has always appreciated about us !

Garbage and Cigarette butts at the field. Chet brought up that there’s an increasing

amount of paper towels, wrappers and cigarette butts at the field. We should do the same as the State and National Parks suggest, Pack it in – Pack it out! We have no waste facilities at the field, we don’t need the expense or worries involved with that, so everyone needs to clean up after themselves.

Craig Crummer donated a Futaba trainer outfit containing a Radio and buddy box. The radio needs a charger, so if anyone has a spare Futaba charger, please let an officer know.

Chet is going to try to contact Jim Clayton about the Club trainer, which he had last.

A motion was made, seconded and passed to leave approximately 3’ strip ‘un-mowed’ in front of the safety fence. As this grows it will be a safe barrier to help planes from hitting the fence.

The annual Builder’s Competition for 2007 begins at the October Meeting. It was motioned, seconded and passed that all entries should be brought to the meeting to verify it’s a new plan, kit or ARF.

Announcements

There “might” be another fly-in at Harley’s towards the end of the month. Fred or the committee will have to contact Harley. Chet will send out announcements if that’s going to happen.

We received a letter of Thanks for Children’s Hospital expressing their gratitude over the donation in honor of Shawn Hancoop.

Again, WELL DONE Buzzards ! !

Meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
