Buzzard Droppings September 2005

(President’s Message continued from page 1)

does a really good job with the gliders and has some giant scale models as well.

If you like the flying demo programs at the field or have ideas for future programs, let us know. That will help in setting up future programs.

We discussed having a mall show in the Monroe area to show off our models and demonstrate their operation. I’m looking for someone to coordinate an event, finding an appropriate mall, selecting dates, etc. I talked to many club members who seemed to be interested.

I have fallen behind with the updates to our web site.  I have photos from our events, including the current Combat event to add. It seems that someone stepped on the accelerator and there have been so many

(April Meeting Minutes continued from page 1)

President, Ron Swift, opened the club meeting by welcoming everyone and introduced the Officers.

A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes as published in the August newsletter.

We received one new member at the meeting, Tom Reid. Welcome Tom !

Officer’s Reports

President

Ron related news about meeting night change. At this time the meetings at the Library will be the 2nd Wed. of each month. Oct 12th, Nov. 9th, Jan 11th, Feb 8th. Mar 8th and April 12th. The December meeting will be our annual Christmas Pizza meeting/party.  Please make note of these dates.

The meeting on Tues. 9/6 will be the last meeting at the field for this year.

Vice President - Brian Richardson announced that the July 23rd Fun Fly was a great success and everyone attending had fun and no major accidents occurred.

Brian announced the Combat Event on 8/13 and the final Fun Fly for the 2005 season on Sunday, 9/11.

Secretary - Chet Blake reported 66 members including; 1 Honorary, 3 family and

1 junior.

All remaining weeks of the mowing list are finally filled. Thanks to all who took weeks and helped out!

If gas is needed, keep the receipt and give to Bob Martin for reimbursement.

Treasurer - Bob Martin reported the finances were in descent shape and we’re good for this time of the year. The 2006 budget will soon be made and presented. It looks like the events for 2006 will remain the same, although the entry fees should be raised a bit.

Safety Officer - Randy was present but it was reported that a plane was lost to the west after take off and ended up on the roof of the old slaughter house. Ken, Kim and others went to talk to the owner and no complaint has been brought up.

Ken feels that the cause of interruption to signal was a faulty battery switch. Another point to watch for. If the onboard  battery doesn’t charge properly through the switch, but does when the charger is connected  directly to the battery, you better dump that switch before it “gets you”!

Vince asked for louder call out for “take off, landings, and on the field”. With all the engines running, it can’t be heard very well.

Dan Fye had a wing fold in mid air due to poor construction of the ARF. Be aware of what you buy. If it’s cheap, it’s probably exactly that !

things needing attention.  We’ll get to the backlog of web info updates soon.

It has been a good summer for flying. With the exception of a few planes not making it back to the field, we’ve had a safe flying season. The new mower seems to be working out. Interest in club membership is increasing from fellow modelers that have moved here recently or from field availability issues. We are fortunate to have an active club, with the resources to support the great field we have.

Next month, in October, we meet at the Monroe Library on the 2nd Wednesday. Make sure to make a note to yourself. The day and place both change…

See you at the flying field.

Ron
