Buzzard Droppings February 2005

(Continued from page 5)

Here you can see a

typical discharge

curve.  It is for my 2

year old - 8 cell NiMH

Zagi Pack.

As you can see if you

look to the right, the

Amp-hours are shown

as 1.47.  The battery

pack is a 1700ma pack,

so over 2 years it has

lost some capacity, but

is still useable.

Now one of the nice

features of the CBA

software is that you can

superimpose one

discharge curve over

another.  You can even

bring up a saved

discharge curve and

superimpose another

curve on it.

In this picture you

can see that I have

superimposed the

discharge curve of 2

of my Zagi packs.

The CBA software

gives each curve its

own color.  The upper

trace is the same 1700

NiMH pack from above.

The lower trace is of a

4 year old Nicad 8 cell

1700ma pack that

originally came with my

 Zagi.  You can see

that its total capacity is

about 830ma,

significantly down from

what it was when new.

The curve is still normal,

but this pack is ready to

be retired.
