Hap will providing an electric presentation for our meeting. He’ll be bringing examples of the R/C trains as well. The electric powered models are the fastest growing area of modeling today. Hap was mentioning something about the expense of keeping up with technology…

Well, the newsletter has grown in size this month, so for now, build well, fly safe, and we’ll see you at the flying field.

Ron

(January Meeting Minutes continued from page 1)

Ron introduced the 2005 officers, then called for the officers’ reports.

Officers Reports

Vice President:

Brian Richardson, announced 6 events and dates for the new year as follows;

Swap Meet - May 7

Open House -  June 11

Fun Fly & Swap Meet  - July 23

Combat Fly  -  Aug 13

Fun Fly  -  Aug 27 or Sept. 3 (rain date)

Bob Martin requested that the builder’s competition be added to the list. It was so amended.

Scott Curtis has accepted the responsibility of running the Combat event again this year. Thanks Scott !

Secretary:

Chet Blake thanked everyone for the vote of confidence, and also stated he appreciated the opportunity to serve in this position.

Treasurer:

Bob Martin reported a positive balance, and that the 2005 budget was approved by the Executive Board. The club had previously voted the club dues to remain at $60.00 and the current budget supports that amount. The

’04 income was greatly increased by the dues of 16 new members which helped offset all of the field improvements done last year. It was recommended that a minimum positive balance should be kept in the budget to help with unexpected expenses.

Safety:

Randy Turner was not present. Ron and others made mention of a serious accident a member had at home while working on an airplane engine. Ron advised everyone keep your wits about you and remember that even though the location might be different, be aware of what you’re doing and working with.

Safety must be the first and foremost in this hobby. A great safety idea is to paint the ends of the prop so the prop-arc can easily be seen. Also, tethering your model would have prevented this particular incident.

Special Committee Reports:

Field Improvements – Joe Goffin has informed Ron and the Club that regrettably, he will not be able to do much this year.

Ron asked that anyone interested in helping out by accepting the Field Improvement position to let him know.

Ron presented Joe Goffin with the Dave Weber Special Service Award Certificate.

By-law change to be voted on at the March meeting:

A motion was made to add the following to section 7 of the bylaws as follows:

“A member of the Executive Board Committee shall audit the Club’s Financial Reports as prepared by the Treasurer at least once a year and compare them to the Bank’s Monthly Statements”.
