Buzzard Droppings September 2004

now a club rule that there will be no wet powered plane flying before 9AM or after 9PM.  Please adjust your flying schedule.

A motion was made that we donate our old windsock and our old frequency board to the new Arlington flying club.  The motion was seconded, and passed.

We then discussed if we should hold the 2nd scheduled Fun Fly on September 11th. It was decided to hold the event and Randy Turner volunteered to organize it.

Hap Schutz then had a discussion on “Electric Flight”, and the meeting was adjourned at 8PM

Next business meeting September 7…  The meeting is planned to be held at the flying field, but we do have the Monroe Library reserved as a backup in case of rain.

Respectfully submitted, Bob Martin, Secretary.

we have no contingency plan to for an alternate flying field.  It is expensive to develop a new field, as Joe Goffin had mentioned regarding the new Arlington field. And if we would maybe raise the membership dues, say $20, we could put away money for a field development fund.  This may not be a benefit to all the membership now, but it would preserve the existence of the Barnyard Buzzards to the next generation of RC flyers.  There was some discussion and Ron stated that he would form a Field Development committee to look into this.

Ron Swift requested that we put a time to end flying wet powered models at the field in the evenings. As some of you know I've been in the hobby for over 40

years... Last Saturday had to be one of the most fun days

I've had in this sport. Scott put on a great combat event…

I think we can really be proud he's a Buzzard.

We had some great laughs and we finally got my old ugly yellow whatchamacallit in the

air. This was my first combat and boy did I learn a lot! First of all you don't have to be

a long time experienced pilot to join in. Second, things can happen slow and fast. Such

as my first flight after engagement was sounded,  I lasted about a nanosecond and my

 ribbon was cut...

We had 9 pilots and about 20 spectators, but I'll let someone else expand on the event.

I just want everyone to know what a great time can be had. Your plane can be slow----fast-----ugly or really nice and it doesn’t matter. Everyone is helpful and we did laugh a lot.

I'm now called the Barnyard Buzzard KILLER by a couple of guys from the Nimitz club that showed up. Well, I just had to put my 2 cents in ......Scott, GREAT JOB !!!
