Buzzard Droppings October 2004

The 2nd annual Builders Competition was then discussed as our program.  Last year was a great success, but some suggested changes were adopted for this  year.  This year competition will start in October at the monthly meeting and go though the monthly meeting in May. Entries can be made at any meeting of the club during the competition.  The judging would be held at the flying field.  This year we will have only two classes, ARFs and Stick.  All Gas and Electric models would be in either of these classes.  There will be bonus points for Scratch building with only plans and the planes that have been flown during the meeting in May.  Points would be subtracted if the model is not finished.  The entry fee would be $10 per model and all monies raised in the competition will be awarded.  Models should be brought in kit form or as new plans prior to building to any meeting from October though April.

The meeting was adjourned at 8PM

Next business meeting is

October 5th at the Monroe Library…

The program will be on Winterization

of Engines, Batteries and more . . .

Respectfully submitted by

Bob Martin, Secretary.

(September Meeting Minutes continued from page 2)

taken,,, Fred mentioned he wanted a jacket.  Others should see or contact Doug Hoff or Ron Swift, if you are interested.

Bob Martin again mentioned that we had a new application for membership and a vote was needed to allow the 66th member. A motion was made and seconded and was passed to allow the membership cap to be exceeded by 6. We also agreed that the membership fees would apply towards the 2005 dues as well.

It was brought up that another club has stepped up to continue the Puyallup RC fair in 2005.  Our club’s involvement was discussed and it was decided that the club would not participate.

Ron Swift opened a discussion on whether we would want a 2nd Swap Meet this year.  It was discussed how successful the first one was and it was decided to have a 2nd Swap Meet on October 9th at our flying field.

It was brought up that in October we would start taking nominations for club officers for the 2005 year and for the Dave Weber Special Service Award.  Bob Martin announced that he would not be seeking the office of Secretary for 2005.

Recognition . . .

We buzzards take a lot of things for granted.

I mean when things are happening that maybe we really aren’t into,

it’s real easy just not to get involved.

Well, let me tell you about THE OLD BUZZARD.......................

He came to the flying field Saturday without a plane to fly,

but to just show up to support the club’s event.

He had a, "HI HOW ARE YA?', for everyone he saw.

He had a big smile and jolly laugh.

When it came time to start the event, I hollered out, “Is there

anybody that would be willing to be a judge?”

And he was the first person to run around the fence and say,

"WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP?"

He stood at the flight line all during the contest and it looked like he

was also having fun!

(Although he was not even flying in the event!)

After the contest was over and the scores were tallied up. Pictures were taken of the winners.

I looked around to give him a "Thank You”, but all I saw was his vehicle heading down the road with him WAVING to everyone.

What I am trying to say here to every one of us that reads this newsletter is

THANKS A LOT JIM REYNOLDS !

I'm proud to be in the company of such an OLD BUZZARD..........

Randy Turner
