Buzzard Droppings November 2004

Our club is dedicated to the safe pursuit and advancement of model aviation. We offer the newcomer free lessons to learn how to build models and to fly them. If you should have any questions about the club, flight instruction or membership requirements, call any of the club officers. We have a safety checklist available for those new to our flying field.

Use of a computer simulator is advisable. This allows you to practice safely and will end up saving you hundreds of dollars in the long run.

Still, in any case, the best way to learn to fly R/C planes is by finding an instructor to help. Learning on your own can be expensive and somewhat less safe.

We provide instruction for both building model aircraft as well as flying these models. In most cases, a buddy box system is used at the flying field. Experience has shown this to be the safest method to learn.

Those who want to enroll in the pilot training should

contact Rick Hanners (phone number is on the list below)

or our club secretary, Bob Martin at (425) 483-2348.

Pilots already enrolled in the training program are

welcome to contact any of the club instructors.

Just For Fun

Safety is a bunch of little things that can add up.

This year again we had a safe and fun flying year. It takes everyone’s effort to have a good safe flying year. I give all you buzzards kudos’.

Just a reminder now  that we are going into the winter flying season, please remember----------------- BATTERIES DON'T LAST AS LONG IN THE COLD............

The other thing that I have seen happen before and that we should be careful of is-----------------LOOSE CLOTHING--------------

A loose jacket not zipped up can be sucked into a running engine real quickly.

Pieces of broken zippers are like flying bullets and they don't care what they hit.

The other item is cold and numb fingers. Keep warm and your fingers nimble.

KEEP YOUR CARB LEAN AND YOUR ATTITUDE

COOL AND CALM

 See ya at the meeting

Randy Turner,  Safety Officer

Two birds were sitting high above the field in the trees intently watching the struggling of another bird on the ground—attempting to get airborne. It seemed to rest quite a while and then at times make a mad dash across the field trying to get airborne flapping its wings and making lots of noise!

Finally one of the birds figured out that the reason it couldn’t fly was that the young one was hungry.

It dropped a freshly caught fish right onto the struggling bird.

The pilot of the ornathopter

never could figure out why the

bird dropped that fish onto his

new pride and joy. Now a

couple of carbon fiber rods

would need to be replaced!

Just shows ya, well meaning birds sometimes come up with pretty fishy ways to help!
