Buzzard Droppings July 2004

job by all!

This leads me to the need to address the previously voted on membership cap. We now have 60 regular members signed up. We have 3 individuals who want to join the club. The idea of the cap was to allow the club to stabilize with the new size. I believe we have done this and a few additional members will not upset the new balance we have already achieved. Being a fairly active member and flying several times a week, I have not noticed any change in the time I have to wait to fly (nearly no wait ever!) We will be voting to extend the cap beyond the current  60, this Tuesday. It would be a shame to have all of our events coming up and no room in the club for interested newcomers and returning members.

Karl Schaefer will be coordinating the Fun Fly on July 24. He has run a safe and fun  Fun Fly event over the past several years. This year he has a couple of new events. If you don’t want to fly in the event, come out to watch (and maybe help Karl). All AMA members in good standing are welcome to fly in the event. Unbelievable prizes will be

Dale also expressed his approval of the field changes that we have completed.  Ron had the new scanner at the field and is programming it.  The scanner should  be ready for use in a couple of weeks.  He also reported that the port-a-potty has been cleaned and the skids will be repaired by Fred.  He reminded the members that the Club’s open house is June 19th at the club field and all AMA members are welcome to fly. The scanner should be ready and it will be used at the open house to verify frequencies.

The Cub Scout fun fly is this Saturday, anyone wishing to help should be there at 9AM.

Vice President - Brian Richardson reported  that the swap meet was a great success and a big thank you for all who helped.  It was also discussed that we should have a sign at the end of the road to help people looking for the field for the events.

Secretary -  Dianne Martin gave the secretary’s report for Bob Martin. She reported that currently the club has 58 full members, 3 family members and 1 junior member. We had 3 new members join in May and one had resigned due to personal reasons.  (At the time of the writing of the minutes, two more members have joined.  We now have 60 full members.)

Dianne also reported that Bob had replaced the shed locks and now the combination of the shed locks are the same as the field main gate.

Bob requests that members check out the

awarded to the top three winners. See the flyer on page 5).

I have been out at our flying field on many occasions, sometimes using the club scanner. So far, everything has been normal. I hope this continues. We will have the scanner at all of the club events this year.  Bob is investigating getting a box to keep our scanner protected. There will be an update at our meeting.

We do have some funds that were given towards our club charity. Jim Clayton will be bringing up his recommendations for a club sponsored charity for this year. If you have a preference to which charity the club donates, make sure to make your opinion known at the meeting.

I was out in the field looking for a downed model and discovered a half of a wing, servo included (bright red, I might add) laying in the field, which was not any part of the aircraft we were walking out to retrieve. You must recover all the parts of your aircraft, especially when it comes down in the field. Dale (our landlord) bales the cuttings from this field for feeding the cattle. If one of these cows eats these parts, it is an expensive vet bill and the cow may not survive. Dale has mentioned
