Buzzard Droppings January 2004

(President’s Message  Continued from page 1)

weren’t any unexpected strong signals detected. We will continue to take readings. The AMA scanner is an Icom IC-R7000. One can be purchased for ~ $450. It might be a good investment for the club, if we can put together a good process to use and maintain one.

Our builders’ competition is in full swing. There is still time to join in the fun (see page 6)

See you at the flying field,

Ron

President Ron Swift called the monthly meeting of the Barnyard Buzzard Model Airplane Club, Inc to order at 7:00 PM at Alfy’s Pizza in Monroe.  Ron introduced the attending board members and welcomed the members, family members and guests to our annual Christmas pizza meeting.   New visitor, Jim Clayton,  introduced himself and stated that he would like to join soon.

Ron asked for a motion to accept the November meeting minutes as published in the newsletter.  A motion was made, seconded and passed, just as the first round of pizzas were delivered to our cool and dark meeting room.

Officer Reports

President’s report – Ron reported that he has the application for the AMA pilot training program. This is different than our club-training program.  The AMA program provides special  insurance for 30 days allowing a trainee who has no AMA membership to fly with a club identified AMA sanctioned instructor.  Since we have no

non-member trainees at this time, Ron tabled the issue until a future meeting. (Club membership requires AMA membership).

Vice President’s report -  Hap was not present, but Bob Martin read an email from him.  Hap is now in Hawaii and requested that his name be taken from the ballot for the office for 2004.

Secretary’s report -  Bob Martin, with a mouth full of pizza stated that he had just received the copy of the articles of incorporation from the State and had faxed a copy to the IRS for the processing the Not for Profit status application.  Swallowing rapidly, Bob also reported we have 56 current members.  He also stated that members could now start paying their 2004 membership dues. Each member will need to fill out a new membership application and sign the hold harmless agreement.  He also stated that any one that did not have their 2004 AMA card in hand would not be able to fly after 12/31/03.

Treasurer’s report  -  Doug reported that he

Flying is not dangerous; crashing is.

Flying is the second greatest thrill known to man... Landing is the first!

An airplane may disappoint a good pilot, but it won't surprise him.

Ya might be a R/C Red Neck if:

· you have more glue in your freezer than food.

· your significant other asks to borrow back her fingernail polish remover (CA remover )

· the microwave is in the shop

· you replaced the dining room table with a workmate

· the sports page goes unread until the weather report is analyzed
