Committee Reports:

Pilot Training Program: Rick Hanners reported he had assigned a new member to an instructor and has had several flight check outs and all is running well.

Field Improvements: Joe Goffin presented the field improvements and announced that there will be a work party on March 20th to realign the field, move the present fence and add a 2nd fence.  He also stated that the flight tables will be moved in between the two fences.  Some discussion followed regarding his measurements and if there really was enough room to do that.  Joe assured the members that there was plenty of space.

Joe also reported that the 2nd new table is now at the field.  He has added poles to hold back the planes on both new tables.

Old Business:

Frequency Investigation: Bob Martin reported current donations for the field scanner are at $315.  (Secretary’s note; at the time of the writing of theses minutes, donations are at $400 – we need ~ $500.00 total.)

New Business:

A motion was made to limit the club membership to 60 to allow the membership to stabilize with the growing numbers of members.  The motion was seconded and passed.

A motion was then made to reduce the size of the runway width to 42 feet to allow more room for the pit area and spectators. The motion was defeated.

A motion was made to offer our landlord an increase in our annual rent to $600 with the understanding that we obtain a lease agreement. The motion was seconded and passed.  Ron Swift will make the offer and follow up on the agreement he already requested.

Program:

The First annual Builders’ Competition:  Bob Martin passed out  judging sheets before the meeting even began. He and Ron explained the categories and voting. Those present then roamed the room inspecting the planes that were present.  Planes that were not finished had points subtracted (although this was a very subjective opinion in some cases!). After the judging sheets were all turned in, Bob Martin started the counting and several of the builders got to review their models.

  -

Forget all that stuff about thrust and drag, lift and gravity; an airplane flies because of money.

A fool and his money are soon flying more airplane than he can handle.

Rule One: No matter what else happens, fly the airplane.

(Repeated for redundancy)
