(President’s Message  Continued from page )

Monroe Library. The following new meeting dates are reserved for us:

Tuesday, October 14

Tuesday, November 25

The weather has been really great for flying. I have seen many of you at the field. The weather forecasters predict that the good weather will continue for the foreseeable future. Many of us fly all year round, so there is no slow down when the rain finally returns.

We will be pulling together a work party to enclose the storage shed sometime in September. It will be good to have both tractors locked up during our winter season.

See you at the flying field!

Ron

(Continued from page )

reported on the Club’s fun fly event.  He had new events this year, so that basic flying skills could be used, allowing flyers both new and experienced to have a great time.  Karl also stated that he had a concern with models that are getting bigger and faster.  He stated that since our field is small the larger planes could cause a safety problem.  It was decided that the board should discuss this problem and report back to the club.

Ron Swift reported that no sound management readings were made in the month.  Ron also explained that the web site is coming back on-line after a problem with the service provider.  All should be back to normal soon.

Rick Hanners reported that the pilot training program is completed and working well.  It was discussed that we should design a completion certificate to award the pilots that finish the program.  It was discussed that we should publish the approved instructors so that new pilots could contact another instructor if their assigned instructor is unavailable.

Ron stated that the field improvements are going along great.  The materials that we had planned on using to enclose the shed are no longer available and a new plan will need to be put together.  Joe Goffin has purchased new fish netting to replace the pilot line fence and a motion was made and passed to reimburse Joe the $50 for the purchase.

New Business:

Ron Swift made a motion that we continue the award for the person who goes beyond the call of duty in advancing the club and make it an annual award.  Since last year’s president, Dave Weber, first started this, Ron made a motion that we name the award the “Dave Weber Special Service Award”  (It has been subsequently decided at the board meeting

that the award will be presented to any person, member including a board member or nonmember, that stands out during the year.)

Bob Martin brought up the suggestion that we allow advertising in the monthly newsletter to businesses or individuals that wish to promote their interests.  A small charge would be made to help reimburse the cost of the newsletter. It was decided by the meeting attendees to leave decisions regarding the classified ads to the newsletter editor.

Bob Martin presented the idea that we establish a new event for the winter months.  This will be the Buzzard’s builder’s event.  The event will start at the club’s regular meeting in November and conclude at the regular meeting in March.  It will have several different classes, i.e. ARFs, stick built and scale.  The rules of the event will be established and presented at the next meeting.

Doug Hoff requested additional funding for meeting door prizes, and an amount of $200 was approved.

Program:

Scott Curtis held a discussion on the upcoming August’s Combat event. He discussed the rules, tricks and setups to get prepared.

Next month’s discussion will be on batteries, ratings and changing and will be lead by Vince Bell.

(If you are missing these discussions you are missing some really good information.)

A time fellowship followed and we had several members bring planes to the meeting.  The meeting was concluded at 9 PM. The rain started shortly thereafter.

September’s meeting will be on Tuesday ,September 2nd, at our flying field at 7 PM.  Arrive early and bring a plane to fly and show.

Respectfully submitted Club Secretary, Bob Martin
