Well, I have finally done it! I attempted a flight with the aileron wires reversed. This resulted in the loss of an excellent Extra 230 model. Lesson learned is to develop a flight preparation check list and use it religiously. The hurried flight between other activities at the field—that quick flight, was certainly a quick one! It seems that successful pilots keep a checklist for packing their models, one for arrival at the field

Next Club Meeting is Tuesday, September 2, 2003, 7:00 PM at the club flying field (see the map on page 7).

Text Box: Promoting the building and operation of radio controlled models, and the public acceptance and good will towards the sport/hobby. Our main goal is to have fun and enjoy the challenge of flying radio control models.

·  New meeting dates have been assigned to us by the Monroe library with their apologies. We’ll be back to the first Tuesday starting in December!

·  Possible builders competition to begin in November. Participants to select a plane by the November meeting and bring it to that meeting. Prizes to be awarded at the March meeting in 3 categories, ARF, Kit Build, Experimental/Scratch.

 The monthly meeting of the Barnyard Buzzards Model Airplane Club was called to order by club president, Ron Swift, on August 5th, 2003 at 7:00 PM at the Barnyard Buzzards’ flying field.

Ron introduced the attending board members and asked for any attending guests. Three guests were present and were introduced.

The president asked if there was a motion to approve the July meeting minutes as published in the monthly newsletter. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes. Motion passed unanimously.

Officer and Special Committee Reports:

Ron Swift reported that he has made contact with Northwest Cascade who is now the company that will service the port-a-potty, and he will

have it serviced more often.

Vice President, Hap Shutz, had no report, but stated that he hoped to be more active now that his grandkids have moved out.

Secretary, Bob Martin, reported that we had two new members join, bringing the total to 48 full members, 5 family members and one honorary member. The total now is 54. Bob reported that Fred Goodrich was in the hospital and was having surgery today.  He also stated that he is still working on the application to make the club a not-for-profit organization with the IRS.

Treasurer, Doug Hoff, gave the treasurer’s report and stated that the club may change bank accounts so that we can write more checks per month without getting a service fee.
