Swap Meet, our annual Open House, two Fun Fly events, a Combat Event, and a builders competition all in 2004. This will be a fun filled year to be sure, and Doug’s budget will provide support for these and the maintenance of our field as well.

If you are planning to enter the builder’s competition, please bring your unstarted kit, plan, etc and the $5.00 entry fee. You can join in the fun anytime through February. See the details for this event on page 6.

Also, nominations for club officers will be requested during the October, November and December meeting. The election will take place at our December meeting at Alfy’s. If you are new to the club, we share pizza and stories at our December meeting and elect the officers for the upcoming year. The pizza and soft drinks are provided by the club.

I talked to our landlord, Dale. He will be

join, bringing the total to 48 full members, 5 family members and one honorary member. The total now is 54.

Bob reported that he is ready to submit the application to make the club a not-for-profit organization with the IRS, but noticed that there a fee of $150 for processing that must be sent with the application.  Doug Hoff stated that we generally pay almost that much in taxes each year and hopefully this will eliminate the need to pay taxes again.  The members voted to allow the payment of the $150.

Treasurer, Doug Hoff, gave the treasurer’s report. (All is well.)

Karl Schaefer, our safety officer, stated that he had a concern with models that are getting bigger and faster.  At the board meeting in August, it was decided that that Karl should put together a proposed safety rule and report back to the club. Karl stated that he is working on it.

Ron Swift reported that Rick Hanners had taken some sound management readings and we were well within limits.  Ron also explained that the web site is coming back on-line after a problem with the service

provider.  All should be back to normal soon.

Rick Hanners reported that the pilot training program is in place and working well.

Ron stated that he had discussed some field improvements with Dale and he stated that we could make any field improvements we would like.  Dale stated that he was happy with how we took care of the field.  Under New Business Ron proposed some runway changes and stated that the committee would look into it and report back.

Bob Martin introduced a motion to change the by-law regarding family membership. After a discussion it was decided to leave the by-laws as is.

Bob Martin opened a discussion for the upcoming Buzzard’s builder’s event.  It was strongly suggested by Dave Bell that the event start at the October club meeting  and conclude with judging at the meeting in March. It was also decided that if others wanted to start building later, that they would be allow to join the competition up until the February meeting. It was also decided that the club attending members themselves should be the judges by secret ballot. The event will have several different classes ( i.e. ARFs, stick built, scale and electric).

Bob Martin also suggested that we service

going into the hospital in November for some more work I wished him well for the members of the club. Dale also gave us the go-ahead to make changes to the field layout, if we want to. As mentioned at last month’s meeting, he suggested angling the field and flight line slightly toward the northeast to avoid flying over the houses. Something to think about.

This month’s program will be a discussion of control linkages and hinging techniques. This should be a good topic for the upcoming builder’s competition.

Also, Doug will have the new
raffle items available at this
month’s meeting. Should be
some new nifty keen stuff
coming up.

It has been a pretty safe
summer—keep up the good work!

See you at the flying field.

Ron
