I am sad to report that Bert Baker has passed on. For those who knew him, he will be missed greatly. Bert designed many models as his own business. The molds and designs for the P-51, P38 and many others became the models that Yellow Aircraft still sells today. President’s Message — Happy Thanksgiving!

News Bits:

·  New By-Law proposal to eliminate dues for all elected club officers.

· 2004 AMA Membership is required for flying after December 31, 2003

· Pizza Meeting at Alfy’s located on Route 2 in Monroe at our December 9th club meeting. The club foots the bill!

· We are one month into our builder’s competition. Some members will be signing up this month!

I did some searching on the internet looking for information about Bert. Many did not know that Bert designed many of the Warbirds that Yellow Aircraft currently sells. Here’s a write-up about one of them:

The monthly meeting of the Barnyard Buzzards Model Airplane Club was called to order by club President, Ron Swift, on October 14, 2003 at 7:00 PM at the Monroe Library.  Ron introduced the attending board members and asked for any attending guests to identify themselves. We had 5 guests present.. Kurt Stanpfill who later became our newest member, Jeff Blake, Jim Clayton, and Steve & Jeremy Camradi.

Ron asked for a motion to approve the September meeting minutes as published in the monthly newsletter. A motion was made and seconded. Motion passed.

Officer and Special Committee Reports:

Ron Swift reported that the meeting dates have changed for November and December.  The November meeting will be on 11/25/2003 at the Monroe Library

and the December meeting will be on 12/9/2003, and is our annual pizza meeting at Alfy’s Pizza in Monroe.

Vice President, Hap Shutz, reported that he was well and kicking.

Secretary, Bob Martin, reported that we had no new members.  After the meeting, we had one new member join, which brings the total to 49 full members, 5 family members and one honorary member. The total now is 55.

Bob reported that he has submitted the application to the IRS to make the club a not-for-profit organization and the IRS did send an acknowledgement of receiving the application, which stated that the processing could take up to 120 days.

Bob requested that all members make sure that he has their most current email address. The club uses email to keep as many members as possible in
