purchase of a gift basket for our landlord and Dave Weber volunteered to get it done.  Dave reported that Karl Schaefer had completed fabricating the parts for the new frequency board, which will be installed as soon as time and weather permits.  Dave Weber volunteered to do the initial construction of the board.  Members were reminded of the upcoming Puyallup show and that we would still need volunteers to man the booth but this year we will not be hawking raffle tickets.  Dave also reminded people of the tentative dates of our Annual Open House and Open Fun Fly, June 28th and July 26th respectively.

costing $15.00 per year with no voting privileges. Also, the Junior member needs to have current AMA membership and have her/his sponsor at the flying field at all times. See the write-up elsewhere in this newsletter.

Our first “event” will be the Puyallup Show 2003 support. A signup sheet will be available at our meeting, so please sign up if you can make it.  The idea is to be at the boot to answer questions about the club and hand out copies of the newsletter and event flyers. There will be no traditional raffle this year. If you want to sign up and can’t make the club meeting, please send email or call me.

Some club members have been flying at the club field, despite the less than perfect weather conditions. If you are interested in being awarded the AMA All Weather Flyer Award, let Bob Martin know.

The new frequency board is not at the field yet, but once it is installed, we all are expected to use it. This will help iron out procedural problems and help us to fix any problems before the main flying season begins.

I know you will all continue to support the club.  Feel free to contact me about club issues and opportunities. My role is to support the club members and club activities as best I can.

Ron

Dave Weber gave a nice speech outlining some of the changes that had taken place in the club over the past 4 years and thanked numerous people who had helped both him and the club during his tenure as President.  The speech was well received for all.  Dave was presented with a card, restaurant gift certificate and a special coffee mug featuring the logo of the Sonex aircraft that Dave has started to build.  A hardy round of applause and well wishes were given to Dave.

Ron Swift was voted as member of the year and given a gift certificate to Tims Hobby.  A raffle was then held and five $20 gift certificates were awarded to members and non-members.  The meeting at this point broke up into groups of people wishing each other well and the night ended.

Welcome to a new year and we hope that all of you will be returning as members.  We see a great year for the club and hope that you will be an active part of the club's future.

Membership dues are due before March 31, 2003.  This year you must always put your AMA card in the field frequency board when flying. The AMA card must have a club sticker on it, showing that your membership is current.

The recommended amount for 2003 club dues is again $60 for returning members and $30 for family members.  Please, when you are paying your dues, have your current AMA card for 2003 with you (required to be a member).  Also, make sure that we have your current address, phone number, e-mail address and the frequencies that you fly on.  We will give you the club sticker for your AMA card and the new 2003 Club Field pass when you pay you dues.

Also, note that Club field passes must be display on vehicle's dashboard when at the field.  Club member cards will be mailed out in April with the new gate combination.

New member dues are still only $100. Spread the word to your flying friends that this is a club to be a part of.

As the new club secretary for 2003 I will work hard to make sure all runs smoothly.

Bob Martin
