goodies that we’re hoping will find their way under our tree this festive season.  Hopefully we have found a special gift for those around us who have less that we do.

We’ve had a good year in 2003 from an activity and safety point of view. Many of us are flying with better precision and skill than ever before. Thank you all for making this a great year for the Barnyard Buzzards!

The AMA now has an online store. There is a link at the AMA web site.

AMA has sent the renewal notices for 2004 membership.  Bob reminded all members that they should renew their memberships as soon as they can.  Included with your AMA membership you receive insurance to protect you while you are flying at our field.  Your 2003 AMA membership expires on December 31, 2003 and you cannot fly at our field until you have your 2004 AMA card in hand.

Barnyard Buzzard membership dues for 2004 can now be paid.  The annual dues of $60 are the same for returning current members. Please pay Doug or Bob, and have your 2004 AMA card for verification.

Bob also reported that the Builder’s competition now has 17 entries.  Anyone who would still like to enter can do so by bring their un-started model to one of the meetings before the judging at the meeting in March.  Bob also stated that there is only one entry in the Electric category.

Bob also reported that he had sent a get well-card to our landlord and to Buzz Goodrich. He passed around a sympathy card for all present at the meeting to sign for Burt Barker.

Treasurer, Doug Hoff, gave the treasurer’s report. (All is well.)  Doug also reported that he has requested a copy of our Business license which is needed to change our bank account.

Karl Schaefer, our safety officer, was not present.  Bob Martin did bring up a safety issue.  Bob reported that he had a plane go down and it brought up some issues.  Currently the club has no rules re

garding the use of used equipment that may be purchased and used at our field.  Older used equipment  may not be operating correcting and may cause problems to other flyers.  Also if a transmitter or other equipment is suspected of causing a problem the club has no procedure to “red tag” the equipment so that it can not be used at the field until it is checked out.  Ron Swift recommended that the board discuss the issue and bring back a recommendation to the club members.

Bob also mentioned that we have two other AMA clubs within a close distance of our field and that some interference may be coming from there.  He stated that the closest club is using even frequencies and it may be a good idea if we used odd.  Other long time members stated that this is NOT an issue and that the other fields are too far away to cause us interference.  Interference may come from many other sources including any open field where non AMA flying may be done.  Ron Swift reported that he has ordered the scanner from the AMA and he and Bob will be conducting tests to see if there is any interference after it arrives.  Bob will send an email when the testing is started so that anyone that would like to be present can be.

Rick Hanners reported no new sound management readings and that the pilot training program is working well.  He stated that all but one of the instructors has a trainee.  He also reported that Brian Richardson has completed the course. Rick presented Brian with a “Certificate of Performance”.

Randy Turner was not present, so Joe Goffin reported that he has received no recommendations for field or runway changes. It is assumed that everyone must be happy with the present layout.. Joe also stated that he has a plan
