else is there. I doubt we have had a better summer for flying.

We will be starting to have our club meetings at the Monroe library in October. Due to a computer problem, the library lost our reservation information. We may have to adjust one or more of our meeting dates to the available Tuesdays.

for the club’s Fun Fly on July 26th.

Secretary Bob Martin reported 46 full members, 5 family members and one honorary member bringing the total to 52. Bob requested that we discuss if there is, or  is a need for a limit on club members.  Ron stated that he would ask our landlord if he wanted us to limit the number of members and report back.

Dick Ovrid was present at the meeting and was asked about the new mower’s mowing height. He reported that the new mowing height is correct and should not be lowered. It can now be used.

Bob also reported that he had several event flyers for the Whidbey Island club if any one was interested.

Treasurer Doug Hoff was on vacation, but Ron stated that he had a check for the rent on the field and he would be taking care of that this month.

Karl Schaefer, our safety officer, was present, and frequency glitches over the field was discussed.  Karl stated that anyone experiencing a glitch should report it to him as soon after it happens as possible with details of time, frequency, location of the plane at the time, etc.

Randy Turner discussed the ongoing field improvements, new tables and an acceptable design were discussed.  The motion that we replace two tables per year was discussed and it was decided that there was no hurry to replace the tables.  Next, it was discussed that the port-a-potty had been moved next to the shed and the frequency board was also moved.  It was mentioned that it had been decided to leave the board where it was at, and by Saturday after the meeting it was moved back.  Randy discussed the need of the

placement of pilot stations 3 to 4 max to establish a station where flying pilots would stand.  This would accomplish several things.  First it would establish the maximum number of pilots that could be flying at one time, it would also establish the spacing between the flying pilots to insure frequency harmonic would not take place.  Also, it would keep pilots from moving up and down the field while flying.  The idea was tabled for further consideration.

Ron Swift reported that no sound management readings were made in the month of May or June.

Karl Schaefer discussed the club’s Fun Fly schedule for July 26th and the events that he was planning on holding. All were excited about Karl’s ideas and we all are looking forward to the event.

We had several members bring planes to the meeting,  Dick Ovrid had a Bird of Time glider and explained the features.  (Secretary’s note - it was so well received that I was told that Dave Bell and Rick Hanners have now purchased one also.)  Ron Swift had a new RC Flight recorder.  This will measure and record the flight so that you can view it on your computer later.  There were several more planes shown.

For the program portion of the meeting, Ron Swift held a very interesting discussion on radios.  He had brought many different types of radios and discussed the characteristics of each.

August’s discussion will be on the upcoming Combat event and Scott will be discussing tricks and setups to get prepared. (If you are missing these discussions you are missing some really good information.)

A time fellowship followed and the meeting was concluded at 8 PM

August’s meeting will be on Tuesday, August 5th at our flying field at 7 PM.  Arrive early and bring a plane to fly and show.

Respectfully submitted by Secretary Bob Martin 7/21/03

Tuesdays. More on this later…

We’re mid way through the summer. Let’s keep it safe and have loads of fun flying this year (again). If there is someone at the field or our meeting who you don’t recognize, introduce yourself. See you at the flying field.

Ron
