Buzzard Droppings April 2002

(President's Message continued from page 1)

shack at the field were they are posted.  The most important of all is to avoid flying over the house located on the other side of the train trestle to the east of the runway.  This is by far the source of the majority of our complaints and we are working on some ways of helping you avoid any problems.
The great news this month is that through some hard work and great effort from Ron the AMA has recognized the Buzzards as a Gold Leader Award recipient.  This is one of many steps that we are taking to make the Buzzards a respected and recognized club in the community of model aviation.  This achievement does come with some responsibilities on our part, one of which includes noise level monitoring.  Because we don't allow the Nelson powered pylon racers, this has not been a problem in the past, but we still need to recognize as members in the community that noise pollution is becoming more and more of a concern.
Finally, I would like to address the veteran club members and ask their help in welcoming our new members.  We have several new members this year, and plan on acquiring even more.  This can sometimes cause a shift in morale and direction in a club.  So I would ask that you, the veterans of the club, take the lead and show the newer members the friendship that makes this club work.  One of my philosophies that I decided to abide by when I took the job as president says "It's only a hobby, enjoy it".  What I mean by that is if you look at the big picture, how important is a problem at a model airplane club.  We've been blessed over the past few years to have a peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere, let's work to keep it that way. Enjoy it!

"Keep your nose up and clean"

You Might be a R/C Modeler if...

You yell "On the Field" more than once at the golf course.

The first aid kit is located in the shop.

You have glue on the bottom of all your shoes.

The scent of burnt nitromethane and alcohol makes your heart race.

You haven't had fingerprints since discovering CA..
