A few of the happy faces from our latest flying event with Cub Pack 433. Each of the scouts (and leaders and parents!) had a chance to fly one of the trainers. This photo was taken at the end of the event by Diane. |

Club President, Ron Swift, welcomed the visitors as they arrived. The session began with a discussion about how model airplanes fly and how the radio transmitter is used for control. A profile Tiger Extra was used for the discussion and initial demo flight. A construction article for this plane can be seen here. |
Lead Flight Instructor, Rick Hanners, continued the discussion with the scouts, pointing out differences between the plane Ron demonstrated and the trainer plane he brought. |
Tom brought his Rascal 110 giant - 110-inch wing span and explained its flight and building differences. |
Rick and Bob Martin, club Secretary, started by giving several of the cub scouts the experience of RC flight, using Rick's trainer and a buddy box system. |
Rick and Ron worked on a second flight to give the rest of the scouts a chance to fly the plane. One of the challenges was to have the student pilot keep his eye on the plane. |
Sandy was the master chef and all of the participants. Those burgers and hots sure were good. It was the first cookout of the year for most of us. |
While lunch was being served, Bob and Ron gave the scout leaders and parents a chance at the sticks flying Bob's 60 sized trainer. |

A good picture of Rick and his trainer. Lots of flights on this one. It flies really nice, about 20 minutes for each flight gave the student pilot plenty of time to practice loops and turns. |
