![]() The turbine engines add a touch of realism to jet powered models. The sound and flight characteristics are very scale like. The turbine engine setup costs around $3000 - $6000. The original model turbines used propane as a fuel. Recent turbines use Jet A or kerosene as fuel. An electronic module regulates the fuel flow while monitoring the exhaust temperature and turbine speed. Care must be taken to control speed and temperatures of the engine. There is nothing like the scale sound of a turbine powering a scale model jet through the air! There are a few manufacturer's of turbines. Currently, training and certification for turbines is required by AMA for model use.
