RocketMotors

Some of the powered gliders use model rocket motors to gain altitude. The rocket motors are rated by thrust and duration. The thrust is classified by letters A-H. The B motor has twice the thrust of an A, etc.
The rocket motors of use for gliders don't need the ejection charge that the rockets use to eject the parachute. Estes makes a rocket glider that was fun to build and fly.
