4-StrokeEngines

Four Stroke Model engines usually have push rods and rocker arm assemblies at the top of the cylinder head, making them easy to recognize. The engine fires every two revolutions of the engine crank shaft. Even with modern engineering, the power of a four stroke engine will be less than its two stroke counterpart. An identical displacement 4-stroke engine will generally weigh more than a two stroke engine.
This engine is more fuel efficient, has a more scale-like sound, and will rarely exceed 10,500 RPM in operation. It also generally has higher torque at a given rpm, and uses larger diameter propellers than two stroke engines with the same displacement. These engines come in sizes ranging from 0.26 Cubic inches up to 7 Cubic Inches.
The engines cost more than two stroke engines of the same displacement. The engines are available as single cylinder and multiple cylinder, arranged as a V, opposed, and radial.
Manufacturers of these model engines include:
  • Enya
  • Sidel
  • Saito
  • OS
  • Technopower
  • Honda
  • HP (from RJL)
  • YS (from Futaba)
  • Laser
