Servos & Linkages

These are servos to be used in various projects in the shop. Servos are available in quite a range of weight, torque, physical size, precision, and cost. For models like the Hangar 9 Ultra Stick, Dave Reid's 8-Ball, and the Super Lazy Ace could use servos in the 70 - 110 in oz torque range. servos In the photo are the following (from left to right)

    • Speed: 0.10 seconds/60 degrees rotation at 4.8 v
    • Torque: 111 in oz

    • 4.8-6.0 VDC
    • Speed: 0.08 sec/60 degrees
    • Torque: 127.76 oz/in
    • Weight: 1.97 oz

These servos are not the standard bushed bearing 40 in oz servos that cost around $12.00. For the same relative size and weight, these jewels provide much faster speed and more torque. It should be noted that the Metal Gear servos make much more noise during use compared to the standard plastic gears on the cheaper servos
Purchasing used servos does not make sense. We buy new ones for our models to reduce the probability of inheriting someone else's problems.
We chose the HiTec HS-605BB servos for the Ultra Stick. It uses 7 servos. The choice is based on having good luck with these servos and cost.
